Tree Giveaway Preparation
5,000 Oak Seedlings are coming, and we need your help!
When: Wednesday March 26th, 2014, 7-9pm
Where: Blue Ash Distributing Warehouse, 11013 Kenwood Rd. 45242. Look for the OVFF sign at the entrance on Kenwood Road.
Once again OVFF is teaming with the Greater Cincinnati Federated Garden Clubs for our annual spring tree giveaway. But first we need to prepare the seedlings! Join us for a fun-filled evening as we individually bag 5,000 Shumard and Red Oak seedlings for distribution to libraries and schools later in the week. Friends and family (ages 12 and up) are welcome! The work is easy and it's fun spending time with others who share your passion for planting trees. As usual, we'll set aside some seedlings for volunteers to take home and plant! If you can't arrive until after 7pm or must leave before 9pm, no problem! Wear comfortable clothing. We can use your help, and hope to see you at the tree bagging!

March 29, 2014: Glenway Woods
Help us revitalize Glenway Woods as we plant 800 Red Oak Seedlings!
When: Saturday, March 29, 2014, 9am-3pm
Where: Glenway Woods Greenspace (1650 Ross Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45205)
Come and join others to help create a greenspace with trees. OVFF is teaming with the Cincinnati Park Board to plant 800 Oak seedlings at the Glenway Woods Greenspace on Sat. Mar. 29th from 9am - 3pm. Come early in the day, or later, for whatever amount of time you can spare. We are replanting areas where honeysuckle has been removed. Meet at the old school parking lot at 1650 Ross Ave. Cincinnati, OH 45205 and look for the OVFF banner. Heavy shoes or boots are preferred; bring work gloves. April 5, 2014: Bethel, Ohio Tree Planting Day
Help OVFF as we assist our neighbors in the Bethel community to plant trees to replace those lost to the Asian Long-horned Beetle threat.

Zoo – Wetland Restoration
Saturday April 6th
The OVFF is teaming up with
the Cincinnati Zoo to replant wetlands, on a preserve of theirs, north of
Mason, Ohio. We will be planting 2500 tree seedlings of a variety of native
All you need to bring are
some sturdy boots or shoes and maybe some gloves ( it will be wet). We will
have plenty of shovels and planting bars along with some gloves. Bring a friend
or come and meet some new friends. If you need to come later or need to leave
early, no worries – even a couple hours of your time will make a difference.
Food and drinks will be provided.
Mason-Montgomery Rd., 3 miles north of Mason Ohio. Take I-71 north to the
Fields Ertel exit and go north on Mason-Montgomery Rd. through Mason and 3miles
north of Mason there will be an old barn on the right. Look for the OVFF banner
just past the barn. 2/10th of a mile past the barn, Mason-Montgomery
ends at Hamilton Rd.

Planting: 2013 Project: Clermont Co.
Saturday April 20th
The OVFF is also working with
the Ohio DNR Clermont Co. ALB replanting project. They have a replanting
project on April 20th to replace trees taken down due to the Asian
Longhorn Beetle. The trees to be replanted are potted with approximately 1”
trunks. They are planning on planting 100-200 trees. The project is to assist
local homeowners who have lost trees and they are looking for volunteers to

Annual Tree Planting:
The OVFF is working on a project with the Cincinnati Zoo to plant several thousand tree seedlings on property of theirs north of Mason. We are still working out the details and will send out that information as soon as we know it.

2012 Forestry - Planting at Greenacres! Saturday, March 24th 9:00 AM 'til 1:00 PM
Where: Greenacres Foundation, meet at the old church at the intersection of Spooky Hollow and Loveland-Madeira Rdin Indian Hill.
Join the OVFF and the Greenacres Foundation, a unique non-profit organization that provides free environmental education opportunities for children in the Cincinnati community. We will be planting 1,000 Northern Red Oak seedlings on the Greenacres property in Indian Hill. All that's needed are some sturdy shoes and maybe some gloves. We will have plenty of shovels and seedling bags. Please come and help us plant a forest and meet some new friends. Even a couple hours will be appreciated. Food and drinks will be provided. Woodland Mound Park April 2, 2011 9 AM til ?
This year, we will be planting trees at this beautiful Hamilton County park overlooking the Ohio River valley. We will be replacing trees that have been damaged by the Ash Borers. Come and help replant an old forest. This a great way to enjoy the outdoors with friends, new and old. Stay to enjoy other activities in the park.
Directions: The address is 8250 Old Kellogg Rd. From I-275, go west on Rt. 125 (Beechmont Ave.), left on Nordyke Road to park entrance on the right. Also accessible via U.S. 52 left on Eight Mile Road, right on Old Kellogg to park entrance on left. Look for the OVFF banner and other signs directing you to the planting site.
We'll be planting small bare rooted seedlings - no heaavy lifting required! If you've never seen the quick method foresters use to plant seedlings, you'll be impressed. Boots and gloves are recommended, tools will be available. Lunch and drinks will be provided.
Mark your calender! Don't worry if you can't come early or spend more that an hour or so; We always work tag-team style with friends coming and going throughout the day.

Once again the Ohio Valley Forestry Fellowship in co-operation with the Civic Garden Center, is sponsoring the
Arbor Day Free Tree Giveaway!!!The Ohio Valley Forestry Fellowship is donating 3,000 Hickory seedlings to be distributed at Cincinnati Public Libraries on Arbor Day. We need your help to prepare the seedlings for distribution! The work is fun and will go quickly with enough volunteers! Every volunteer will receive a free seedling! Snacks and beverages will be provided.
